New Lease
If you’ve just signed a new lease, you’ll be emailed instructions on how to pay your bond and deposit (or first two weeks’ rent). Click on the links in the email to set up your payment method. You’ll then be prompted to pay your deposit using one of the available methods.
Swapping Over
If you’re currently on an existing lease and swapping over from a previous payment method, you’ll receive an introduction email with options to choose your payment method. The Setup Article here will run you through the setup steps.
The First Payment
Once your payment method is successfully setup, you’ll receive a notification either through the app, via email or SMS the day before your first payment is due.
From here, you’ll be able to click on the links in the notification to make an instant payment with a different card or account if you don’t have enough funds in your regular account or card. You can learn how to make an instant payment here.
If no alternative payment is made, and you’re set up for direct debit or card payments, we’ll automatically pull the funds from your account or card the next day.
Once the payment is made, you’ll receive a receipt via email.
You’ll also be able to see this information in the app in your ‘rent’ section under ‘ledger’.
Different Rent Amount for First Payment
Your rent will be calculated from what is specified in your lease document. Therefore, there may be a small discrepancy in your first rental payment through the new system.
For example, if you have previously been paying your rent on a Friday because you get paid on Thursday, but your rent is technically due on a Wednesday, your first payment will be debited / due on a Wednesday, and you will receive a notification / email on Tuesday warning you of the due payment.
If you have been paying your rent on the same day that’s in your lease agreement, there’s nothing to worry about.
Fees
Depending on your agency, state legislation, or bank, you may be charged a small bank fee on each rent / invoice payment.
You’ll be able to see the relevant fees under the rent amount in the Rent section of the tenant app / portal.
