Q. Why offer my services on OurTradie?
OurTradie connects you with local real estate agencies who are seeking qualified tradespeople to work on their tenanted properties.
You’ll get the best job requests from agencies who are looking for a professional with your exact skill set. With immediate notifications, you'll be able to respond quickly to job requests and win more jobs.
Q. How much does OurTradie cost?
Fees vary depending on the agency that provides the job to you.
There is a base OurTradie charge of 2% per approved invoice capped at $20.00 (+GST). You can include this in the total cost of your quotations and invoices if you like.
Fees are charged by credit card on the first day of the month for the invoices you received payment for that previous month.
Q. How do I become an OurTradie member?
We recommend checking to see if you have an existing account first before starting a new account. You can do this by entering your email address and pressing the Forgot Your Password link on the OurTradie login page.
New users can register online here where you will be asked to fill out the New User registration form. Part of this form requires you to upload your licence and insurance information. Once these are uploaded your account will be verified. Once verified, you will be marked as a preferred tradie in the system and more likely to be chosen by agencies.
Q. How do I set my location for my business?
You can select all the postcodes you service in the ‘Company Settings’ page. Jobs that are within those postcodes will be sent to you.
Q. How is my Tradie Rating determined?
Once you complete a job the property manager and tenant will be asked to review and rate your work. These ratings, combined with your profile’s level of completion, will determine your OurTradie rating.
Tips to improve your rating:
-
Make sure your insurance information is up to date in OurTradie
-
Make sure your licences are up to date (plumbing, electrical, etc.)
-
Put good detail into your quotes
-
Take a photo of your completed job (this helps to safeguard you as well)
-
Maintain prompt communication with tenants/property managers from start to finish
-
Submit your invoice as soon as the job is complete

Your company website (if you have one)

Q. Can I work in multiple trade categories?
Yes. You can add as many trade categories as you work in.
Q. How do I complete my profile?
During sign up you’ll be asked to enter most of the required details to complete your profile. After logging in you’ll also be able to change or add details in the Company and Preferences sections under the ‘Cog Wheel’, or the ‘My Profile’ section under your logo in the top right-hand corner.
Q. Can I change my trades categories?
Yes. Once logged in, you can go to the ‘Company’ page under the ‘Cog Wheel’ and select or deselect trades categories you work in and the post codes you'd like to service.
Note: If you are adding trades that require licences, such as plumbers and electricians, you MUST upload your licence information before submitting your invoice.
Q. Do I need Insurance?
OurTradie asks for two types of insurance: Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Public Liability Insurance is vital for any self-employed tradie. Public Liability Insurance helps you by covering the costs of a claim made against you for property damage or personal injury caused by your activities. This could include anything from spilling a bucket of paint on expensive flooring, through to someone being seriously injured from your equipment.
Typically, if you are a sole tradie such as a handyman, cleaner, landscaper or painter, you will not need professional indemnity insurance. Professional indemnity is usually required by professionals who provide their advice in return for a fee, such as a property or building manager.
If you haven’t entered the details of your Public Liability Insurance and uploaded a copy of it, a ‘skull and crossbone’ icon will appear next to your profile image on the property manager’s side.
IMPROVING PROFILES
Q. What are the benefits of personalising my profile?
The more details you add about your business, the higher your OurTradie rating will go. Property managers and agencies are more likely to book a tradie with a complete profile. So for best results make sure you complete your entire profile, including your Company page, Preferences page, and Profile page.
Q. Can I update information on a profile I've created?
You can update your profile at any time. If you manage employees you can also edit your employee profiles.
Q. How do I get matched to a job?
Our system uses your profile and company information to automatically suggest you for specific jobs that property managers are searching for. That’s why it’s important to make sure all the information in your profile is complete and up to date.
Q. Will I always be alerted when new jobs become available?
Once a property manager chooses you for a quote or job request, you will be automatically notified via email and in the app.
Q. Where can I see the jobs I have worked on and completed in the past
All jobs that are completed through OurTradie will appear in the ‘All’ section at the top of your home screen.
RESPONDING TO JOB REQUESTS
Q. How do I submit a response?
You’ll receive all job requests via email. Each email will have links to view more details of the job (including tenant photos), accept the job, or reject the job.
Otherwise, you can log into OurTradie and check your dashboard for any new job offers. From here, use the buttons next to the job title to accept or reject the job, or click the job title to open the job’s page.
If you need to find out more information from the tenant or property manager you can ‘Create a Note’ against the job and choose who to notify.
If you want to set up a meeting to view the job before you quote, you can use the ‘Create Meeting’ button next to the job.
Q. How long do I have to submit a price for a job?
You have up until the Quote Due Date to submit a quote on a job, however, you may miss out on a job if another quote is accepted by another tradie before this date. Ensure you click the ‘intend to quote’ button inside the job page to notify the property manager.
Q. Is my quote binding?
You can resubmit your quote with changes up until the property manager accepts the quote and advises you to start the work.
Q. What if I do work that does not start with a quote?
Most property management jobs are not quoted because it is more efficient to use a trusted tradie for smaller jobs under the quote threshold.
If a quote is not required for a job, it will be stated on the initial job request email. All you have to do is schedule the job, complete it and invoice for it afterwards - no quote required.
Q. Based on the information in this customer's job request, I'm not ready to quote a price. What should I do?
If you don’t have enough information to provide a quote you can either:
-
Call the property manager,
-
Add a ‘note’ to the job asking more questions in OurTradie and alert the property manager or tenant, or
-
Schedule a meeting to view the job before quoting.
WINNING JOBS
Q. Does the lowest price always win?
There is no perfect price for a job. You should offer a competitive price that you feel comfortable with. Many considerations go into selecting a quote, including your Tradie Rating, past reviews, qualifications, insurance and licence information, detail provided in your quote, and the amount of detail provided in your profile.
Always remember, the more detail you add to your quote the better!
Q. How long before I know if I've won the job?
Usually, the property manager will approve a quote or onsite request before the listed start date and time. Once they do this, you will be automatically notified.
However, we do give property managers a maximum of 30 days to accept your quote or onsite request before we consider the job expired, in which case you will be automatically notified that the job has expired.
PAYMENTS
Q. Does OurTradie pay me for the job?
No, you are paid directly from the agency to your nominated account. Before invoicing via OurTradie you will need to make sure your bank account details are set up, as this will be the account your payment is transferred into.
Q. When does OurTradie charge me for winning a job?
You are charged fees on the invoiced value of your jobs. So, if you don’t win a job, there are no fee. Fees are charged on the first business day of the month and are calculated from the invoices you were paid for that previous month.
CREDIT CARDS
Q. Will I be asked to provide a credit card number or bank account details?
Yes. You'll be asked to provide credit card details as part of your application. Your OurTradie fees will be charged to your credit card.
We also ask you to enter your bank account details for job payments - this is the account that property managers will pay your invoices into.
Q. How can I update my credit card information?
You can update your credit card information under the Subscriptions page once logged in. Click the ‘Cog Wheel’, then ‘Subscriptions’, then ‘Edit/Change’ next to the payment info.
Q. Can I ask for a deposit if the job is big?
You can add the deposit amount when you submit the quotes through the tab 'Deposits/Charging'. Please note that this tab will display only for agencies using the Payment platform.
Q. How do I make a line item GST free?
Currently you cannot make items GST free in OurTradie - but we’re working on enhancements to make this happen in the near future.
Q. Is OurTradie able to integrate with my other system?
OurTradie currently cannot integrate with maintenance manager software, such as Service M8 and maintenance scheduling programs.
The only integration we currently offer is being able to pull invoices from MYOB and Zero.
Q. Can I Integrate Quickbooks?
The only accounting software we currently integrate with are MYOB and Zero - where we are able to pull invoices from and store them in OurTradie.
