What is a cache?
A cache is a storage mechanism that temporarily holds data to facilitate faster access upon future requests. In web browsers, caching involves saving elements like images, scripts, and other parts of web pages on your device. This process reduces loading times and conserves bandwidth by retrieving these elements locally instead of downloading them anew each time you visit a site.
Why do I need to reset it?
Over time, cached data can become outdated or corrupted, leading to issues such as:
- Display Problems: Pages may not load correctly or show outdated content.
- Performance Issues: Accumulated cache can slow down your browser.
- Security Concerns: Old cache might retain sensitive information.
Resetting, or clearing, your cache ensures that your browser fetches the most recent versions of web pages and can resolve these common problems.
Test if you need to reset it
To test if you need to reset your cache, try logging into our site using Incognito or Private Mode, which allows you to browse without using cached data or stored cookies. If the site works correctly in this mode but not in your regular browser window, clearing your cache may resolve the issue. Each browser has its own version of private browsing: Google Chrome calls it Incognito Mode, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge use Private Window, and Safari offers Private Browsing. Using this method, you can quickly determine whether outdated cached data is causing problems for you on our site.
How to reset it
For detailed, step-by-step guides, please refer to the following resources:
- Google Chrome: Clear cache & cookies
- Mozilla Firefox: How to clear the Firefox cache
- Safari (macOS): Clear the history, cache, and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Microsoft Edge: View and delete browser history in Microsoft Edge
Note: We only officially support Google Chrome and Mozzilla Firefox. We do strive for compatibility with other browsers, but you may experience degraded performance if you choose not to use the officially supported ones. No matter which browser you use, please ensure you do not use any add-ons or plug-ins as many of these will interfere with the operation of the OurProperty system. |
