What is an OTP?
A One-Time Passcode (OTP) is a unique and temporary password that is generated and sent to you as part of the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) process. Unlike traditional passwords that remain constant and can be reused multiple times, an OTP is designed to be used only once, hence the name "one-time."
When you initiate the 2FA process, typically by logging into your account or accessing a link sent to you by your agency, the system generates an OTP specifically for that log-in attempt. This OTP is then delivered to you through a predetermined communication channel, such as a text message or email.
Why do you need one?
2FA serves as a vital security measure here at OurProperty, safeguarding your account from potential threats. Passwords, while fundamental, can be susceptible to attacks by malicious entities. In the event of a compromise, unauthorised access to your account becomes a looming concern. However, with the addition of OTP, your account at OurProperty gains an extra layer of protection against such threats.
This means that even if your password is compromised, you can rest assured that you'll have the opportunity to secure your account before any unauthorized access occurs. Plus, you'll receive timely alerts, offering you peace of mind and empowering you to take proactive steps to maintain the security of your account.
The OTP Validation Screen
On this screen, you will be advised whether the OTP has been sent to your email or phone. You will also have a textbox where you can enter the OTP you receive. Please ensure you do not add a space or any punctuation when entering your OTP.
Once you have entered your OTP, click Validate. If you did not receive your OTP or it has expired, click Resend OTP to receive a new passcode.
Trouble Shooting
I have received an OTP code and I did not try and log in. Is my account safe?
Don't worry, your account is safe. 2FA has done its job and protected your account. Most of the time this is caused by a staff member from the agency attempting to access a link sent to you, that only you have permission to access. If you feel concerned, you can always reset your password.
I am not receiving an OTP code.
Check where the OTP Validation screen has sent your code and ensure you are checking the correct email or SMS. Please note that this code can sometimes take up to fifteen minutes to be received. If you have waited for more than fifteen minutes and have still not received your code, please contact our technical support team by emailing us at support@ourproperty.com.au or by filling in this form.
